Project Highlight: Custom Home Painting | 2026 Parade of Homes
August 20th, 2026
A home selected for the Kalamazoo Parade of Homes highlights craftsmanship.
The 2026 Parade of Homes invited visitors into new and remodeled homes across the Kalamazoo area to see the latest in residential design, building products, and artistry. PMV Painting provided custom home painting for one of this year’s showcase entries.
The wooded retreat featured natural materials, expansive windows, warm finishes, and an earthy color palette integrated to connect the interior with its surroundings.
Our role was to help bring that vision together through carefully executed paint finishes throughout the home.
A Palette Inspired by the Outdoors
The home’s setting plays an important role in its design. Large windows bring in natural light and frame views of the surrounding trees and fields.
Inside, Roycroft Bronze Green, Egret White, and Greek Villa complement natural wood tones and bronze and black fixtures. Rather than compete with those elements, the painted surfaces help create a cohesive backdrop for them.
The result feels warm and relaxed, with color adding character while allowing the home’s architectural details and natural materials to stand out.

Letting the Details Take the Lead
Custom home painting requires more than choosing a wall color. The paint palette needs to work with the materials, architectural details, natural light, and finishes selected throughout the home. Wood cabinetry may meet painted walls and trim. Tile, metal fixtures, and millwork each add another layer.
Painting helps connect those elements.
Throughout this environment, the restrained palette creates continuity as you move from open gathering areas into offices and more private spaces. Subtle changes in color give individual rooms their own character without disrupting the overall design.
That balance matters when the goal isn’t merely to create individually beautiful rooms. Each space needs to feel like part of the same home.

Custom Home Painting Requires a Whole-Home View
In a custom build, paint decisions aren’t made in isolation. Wall colors and finishes need to complement flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile, fixtures, millwork, and the way natural light moves through the home.
Professional custom home painting considers those relationships across rooms, helping individual design choices come together as one cohesive environment.
Craftsmanship on Display
Parade of Homes projects offer visitors an unusual opportunity: the chance to see a newly completed home up close.
The experience puts the work of every trade on display.
For a custom home painting team, details such as surface preparation, clean transitions, consistent finishes, and attention around trim and architectural features contribute to the overall experience.
Ideally, visitors don’t walk into a room and immediately think about the paint. They notice how the room feels.
In this residence, the painting supports the architecture, natural materials, furnishings, and views without competing for attention. That’s exactly the role of a well-executed finish.

Paint Colors and Finishes
Carefully selected colors and finishes supported the home’s cohesive palette. Sherwin-Williams Egret White (SW 7570) provides a warm neutral foundation across the walls, paired with Greek Villa (SW 7551) on the ceilings.
In the office, Roycroft Bronze Green (SW 2846) creates a rich accent wall. The same color carries into the family room fireplace surround, connecting spaces while adding depth to the home’s natural palette.
PMV also custom-matched the trim, interior doors, closet shelving, and closet walls and ceilings to the Wellborn Grey Mist cabinetry. In the family room, the mantel and ceiling beams received a custom stain matched to the laminate finish, reinforcing the warm wood tones used throughout the home.
Creating a Sense of Retreat
The wooded setting, water views, natural light, layered textures, and warm palette create the peaceful atmosphere envisioned for the home. Each design choice reinforces that connection to the outdoors.
We’re proud that PMV Painting’s craftsmanship contributed to that finished experience and the 2026 Kalamazoo Parade of Homes
